Member Benefits

As a community volunteer organisation we have undertaken the task of providing a safe environment for beach goers.   Members are therefore required to commit a great deal of personal time and effort to fulfilling those duties. There is no monetary reward involved for our efforts however here at Shellharbour Surf Life Saving Club we have tried to provide members with ancillary benefits that in some way compensate and recognise that commitment.

Club Rooms:  Our club rooms can be made available to members for private functions at a nominal cost.   Please note that any approved functions  must strictly comply with acceptable standards of behaviour and may also be subject to Liquor License & Local Government regulations. Prior approval of the Club Management Committee is required for 21st Birthday celebrations. 18th Birthday celebrations are not permitted.

Equipment Subsidy:   A cash subsidy is available to Active Members who wish to purchase surf life saving competition equipment.  Subsidy requests are considered annually, in July, and funding made available must go to the purchase of new equipment.  Conditions apply to grants made, and a compliance review of those conditions is done on a regular basis throughout the year. Club equipment: For those who do not wish to purchase their own equipment we provide a "pool" of equipment that is readily available for use by club members.  Equipment includes; racing Malibu boards, single surf skis, double skis and paddles.  The club will maintain the equipment and replace it as and when required.

Competition & Carnivals: The Club will pay for entry costs for approved carnivals & special events.  Late entry fees are the responsibility of the competitor unless otherwise approved by the Committee. Out of pocket expenses such as fuel, and venue parking fees will be reimbursed to those members using their private vehicles to tow or transport equipment, such as surf boat, irb and gear trailers.

Sponsors Products: The club receives a rebate from Bendigo Bank  if club members take out a home loan. Some sponsorship arrangements include discounts on products for Club Members.
