Shellharbour Surf Life Savings Club
The club was formed in 1936. Apart from a short enforced break during World War 2, it has served the local community continuously from that time.
During this period of service the club has established itself as one of the principal surf clubs in regional New South Wales.
Usually we have over 350 junior members and approximately 250 senior patrolling members.
In 2013/14 our membership total is over 800 including associate and nipper parent members.
Shellharbour region has always been a popular holiday destination.
That still remains, however the increasing demand for housing has now seen the area develop into vibrant and progressive community.
Census information shows that the Shellharbour City area is growing at twice the nations average.
Our club is playing its part in that growth and development.
Shellharbour Club patrols the main "Shellharbour North" beach and conducts surveillance and roving patrols to nearby "South Beach" and "Blacks Beach".
The club has modern amenities set among a landscaped foreshores.
We also own a contemporary building, The Function Centre, that caters for a diverse array of social and commercial activities.
Club membership continues to grow as the neighbouring suburban area expands.
There are 14 active patrols available throughout the surf season.
An energetic Nipper movement conducts its activities each weekend throughout summer with numbers regularly registering in excess of 300.
Registration forms can be found on our Registration Page.
Members successfully compete at inter-club, Branch, State and National level carnivals.
As a local organisation we are regularly involved in community promotions, programs, exchange of skills, venue availability and similar activities.
We enjoy a harmonious relationship with the local authorities and enjoy outstanding support and cooperation from the local business community.
